About us

Every home deserves to feel lived-in and loved.

Based in Hampshire, we’re a small team of designers, builders, and craftspeople who take pride in transforming houses into places people are proud to call home.

We started this business with a simple goal — to make renovations feel less stressful and more personal. Our work blends practical know-how with a genuine eye for detail: no cut corners, no one-size-fits-all solutions. Most of our work comes through word of mouth, and we think that says a lot about how we do things.

How it works

Four steps, and you know where you stand at each one.

Days are bookable only because he opened them himself. No standing timetable, no phone tag.

Free
01

Book a slot

Pick a time he’s actually free. Larger projects start with a free 45-minute survey visit.

02

He confirms

Straight from his phone. You get an email either way, so you are never left wondering.

03

Quote & product list

A written quote, and a shared page where you send through the tiles, flooring and fittings you want.

04

Build

One point of contact and a timeline you can hold him to, under a JCT contract on larger projects.

Booking

Pick a slot. He confirms from the van.

Larger projects start with a free survey visit — forty-five minutes to look at the job and price it properly, no charge and no obligation. Smaller jobs you book directly: the slot you pick is the work.

  • Slots are held for ten minutes while you fill in your details
  • 24 hours’ notice for a survey, 48 for directly booked work
  • Change or cancel online up to 24 hours before

Product list

Send him the tiles you fell for.

Every customer gets their own page. Paste links to anything you want in the job — tiles, flooring, taps, a bath — say how much of each, and it reaches him as a shopping list with a running total, grouped room by room.

  • Prices are indicative, not a quote — each records the day it was added, so nothing silently goes stale
  • He replies on each line: approved, queried, ordered, or not suitable
  • Search and filter by room, retailer or his reply

Every job, what it cost, how long it took.

No stock photography. Every one of these is Ben’s own photograph of his own work, finished and half-finished both, because the middle of a job is the part most people never get shown.

What customers say

Thirteen reviews, every one ten out of ten.

These are on Checkatrade, not on a page he controls, so you can read them at source along with the eight not shown here. Reviewers are verified by Checkatrade and stay anonymous, which is why each card credits the job rather than a name.

Ben and his team did a fantastic job with my home. They did a full refurbishment of my flat and the process was seamless. They were also friendly and a joy to work with throughout the process. Would recommend to anyone.

Ben came out very quickly, checked and replaced my socket and tested for safety which was my main concern. He was obviously experienced and knowledgeable. He had a pleasant, friendly manner. This was only a small job but I would happily use him for a much bigger one and he will be my first call next time I need an electrician.

Ben was brilliant in communication with us and even with the tricky position of the Extractor, he was able to replace it with a new one. 100% recommended.

I recently had my house rewired by Ben Heer and couldn't be happier with the service. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and professional. He was punctual, tidy, and showed great attention to detail. Communication was clear throughout, and the workmanship was excellent. The whole process was stress-free, and my home is now safer and more functional. I highly recommend Ben for anyone needing reliable, top-quality electrical work.

Where he works

Romsey, and about half an hour around it.

Each of these has its own page — the housing stock, the planning authority, and the two or three things that genuinely change how a job is priced there.

Somewhere else? That list is the usual patch, not a boundary. Send the job through or ring 07343 014 235 and he’ll tell you straight whether he can get to you.

Common questions

The things people ask before they ring.

Does the survey visit cost anything?

No. A survey visit is 45 minutes, free of charge, and there is no obligation at the end of it. It is a look at the job so it can be priced properly, and you get the quote in writing afterwards.

How do the published prices work?

The rate card is published in full, which is unusual in this trade. A figure shown as “from” is the starting point for the simplest version of that work.

Larger jobs are priced after the survey and given to you in writing. On the smaller jobs, materials are charged on at cost on top of the labour rate.

Which areas do you cover?

Romsey, Southampton, Winchester, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford and the wider Test Valley — there is a page for each with the local planning detail. That list is the usual patch rather than a boundary: send the job through and you will get an honest answer about whether he can reach you.

Are you insured?

Yes — comprehensive public liability insurance is in place. On all larger projects the work is also carried out under a JCT contract, which sets out the scope, the timeline and the responsibilities on both sides in writing. Company number 13635694, registered in England and Wales.

How much notice do you need?

A survey visit needs 24 hours, and directly booked work needs 48 hours. The booking calendar applies that automatically, so anything you can see is genuinely bookable.

Why is the calendar sometimes empty?

Because days appear only when he has opened them himself, rather than running to a fixed timetable. An empty calendar usually just means next week has not been opened yet — it is not a fault, and it is not a full diary. Ring 07343 014 235 and he will sort a time.

Can I change or cancel a booking?

Yes, up to 24 hours before it starts, from your booking page or your account. Inside 24 hours the online button is deliberately switched off — please ring instead, so a late change is actually spoken about rather than missed.

What is the product list?

Your own page where you paste links to things you want in the job — tiles, flooring, a bath, taps. Say how much of each and which room it is for, and it reaches him as a shopping list he can actually shop from, grouped by room.

It is a shared list, not a shop. Nothing is ordered or paid for there, prices are indicative and stamped with the date they were read, and he buys the materials the way he always has.

Book a look at the job.

Forty-five minutes, free of charge, and you get a written quote out of it. Or ring if you’d rather just talk it through — that always gets through fastest.
